Nexium Proton Pump Inhibitor Lawsuit Claims Severe Patient Injuries

Manufacturer AstraZeneca has been named in the Nexium proton pump inhibitor lawsuit for allegedly failing to warn consumers and physicians about the risks associated with using these drugs.

More than $15 million Americans used these prescription PPIs in 2013 with costs of more than $10 billion for those patients. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor that secretes stomach acid and reduces hydrochloric acid in the patient’s stomach.

The drug then binds with the proton pump that inhibits the gastric parietal cells to secrete gastric acid. Nexium is the most popularly sold drug from AstraZeneca and in the world market, the third most popular drug overall.
